In essence it’s about planting a seed… an idea. People may need to go away and reflect or wait for an opportunity to grow that seed. They can either reject or accept it, experiment with it or develop it.

But over time, if you are authentic, passionate, knowledgeable and you build trusted relationships… those seeds are more often accepted rather than rejected.

They germinate and flourish if you understand and appreciate architecture and design and can translate the different languages, needs and desires of clients, architects, builders and sub-contractors.

And before you know it a living breathing city is created from a conversation about materials or a sample request.

And that is one of the things I have loved about my career, with over 14 years of experience working as an Architectural Specification Business Development Manager.

That I can go visit so many iconic buildings in Perth and experience the spaces that have been created through conversations, connections, playing with ideas, different materials and prototyping custom solutions.

It has given me an in-depth understanding of product development, marketing and architectural specification and sales process and strategies. And a broad technical product knowledge of finishes, materials and building products including:

  • solid and engineered timber, plywood & timber veneer

  • melamine, laminate, acrylic board

  • acoustic panels, claddings & linings, decking

  • balustrading and stairs

  • natural stone

  • porcelain panels and tiles

  • joinery & furniture

I get excited about working with natural materials in particular, as everyday you learn something new about the magic of the world we live in… which is always imperfectly perfect!

Over the years, I have often been asked what I do… & how I do it. And there is no set formula to being an Architectural Specification BDM. So my answer is always Voodoo!

But the truth is I am guided by my intuition and my approach is always unique, creative, collaborative, organic and solutions focused.

Testimonials

PR AgentZ would like to acknowledge the living culture of Australia’s First Nation Peoples, the traditional custodians of the land we stand on, and pay tribute to the unique role they play in this country. The connections to the places, the stories and generational knowledge sharing.

I would like to give a special acknowledgement to Lee Townsend, for being my mentor and teacher, explaining the importance of understanding country and sharing her knowledge and stories with me.

Lee is an Indigenous Dharug woman and artist living on Biripi Country in NSW, who draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of Aboriginal traditions, nature, community and life experiences. Her art bridges world’s and cultural barriers and is an invitation to look deeper, to look past our differences and connect in authentic and genuine ways.

Lee’s mentorship and words of wisdom have been instrumental in defining the PR AgentZ commitment and process in which we consider the sustainability and ethics of everything we do while Connecting, Collaborating and Creating. “Never taking more from Mother earth than we need and always giving of what we have”.

Lee’s work can be viewed on her website Killawarra Dreaming and she is currently also working on a collaborative venture with Winya Furniture for her artwork to be used for Commercial projects printed on fabric, wall papers or timber veneer materials.
